NEA announces 11-14 hours of daily load-shedding

Last Updated :  17th Jan 2012

With the new schedule effective from Monday, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has increased the power cut hours from existing 69 hours a week to 88 hours.

As per the new schedule, the Valley residents will be compelled to endure power cuts ranging from 11 hours to as much as 14 hours a day.

The NEA said that it was compelled to increase the load shedding hours citing a huge gap between the demand and supply of power and decreasing level of water in the river with the onset of winter.

There would be 12 hours of load shedding on Sunday, 11 hours of load shedding on Monday and Tuesday, 13 hours of load shedding on Wednesday and Saturday while 14 hours of load shedding on Thursday and Friday, according to the NEA’s new schedule. (Source:THT)
