A private company has introduced 39 new metro buses which will make rounds of the Ring Road which circles Kathmandu and Lalitpur cities.
The public buses brought by Mahanagar Yatayat Pvt Ltd were launched amid a programme on Sunday. According to vice-chairman of the company Santosh Khatiwada, these are high-tech metro buses which have modern facilities like WiFi and TV and security features like closed-circuit cameras.
The company has invested Rs. 160 million in these buses costing around Rs 4.2 million for each bus, Khatiwada said.
The vehicles are Tata Starbus Ultra buses having 30 seats and can carry up to 50 passengers in total. The buses are fitted with pneumatic passenger door and have LCD screen and GPS system for location tracking.
Moreover, the operator has announced to launch a smart phone app through which people can check the location of buses near them online.
