Toyota Etios Liva and Hyundai Xcent ready for July launch

Two new cars are entering the Nepali market within July.

Hyundai is launching its new sedan – Xcent – by mid-July, while Toyota is preparing for July launch for its hatchback Etios Liva.

Anjan Shrestha, executive director of Laxmi Intercontinental – the authorized distributor for Hyundai vehicles in Nepal, said: “Besides giving continuity to the brand position in the Nepali market, the Xcent will play a major role in enhancing Hyundai’s market share here.”

The price of Xcent will start from Rs 2.7 million, according to Shrestha.

The sedan will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol version is powered by 1.2 liter four cylinder kappa dual VTVT engine, while the diesel version will have a three-cylinder 1.1 liter U2 technology engine. The Xcent diesel delivers maximum power of 72 PS at 4,000 rpm and 18.4 kgm of torque between 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. It has five-speed manual transmission and gives mileage of 24 km per liter. Similarly, the petrol version of Xcent delivers peak power of 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 11.6 kgm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It gives mileage of 19 km per liter.

Hyundai-Xcent

Hyundai Xcent has features like anti-lock braking system, rear defogger, dual airbags and central locking, among others. The sedan will be available in six colors — phantom black, pristine blue, red passion, sleek silver, twilight blue and pure white.

Similarly, Toyota Etios Liva is expected to hit the Nepali roads in the last week of July. Ramesh Shrestha, sales executive of United Traders Syndicate (UTS) – the authorized distributor for Toyota vehicles in Nepal, said the car is fuel efficient compared to other hatchbacks available in the market.

Price of Etios Liva starts from Rs 3.2 million, according to Ramesh.

Though Etios Liva is available in both diesel and petrol versions, UTS is launching only the petrol version in Nepal.

Etios Liva delivers a maximum power of 80 PS at 5,600 rpm and maximum torque of 104 Nm at 3,100 rpm. Equipped with five speed manual transmission, the car gives mileage of 18 km/liter, according to the company. The car has a 45-liter fuel tank.

The hatchback also features stylish exterior and interior with body colored bumpers, front fog lamps, alloy wheels, sun visor, front and rare door pockets, colored globe box and front cabin lights. The car also comes with audio system with remote, speakers, and audio controls on steering wheels.

Etios Liva comes in seven different colors – classic grey, celestial black, white, vermillion red, symphony silver harmony beige and ultramarine blue.
