Hero Xtreme 200R to launch in this festive season
Hero Motocorp is preparing for a pre-festive launch of its new Xtreme 200R motorcycle in September-October with an eye on double-digit growth in the festive season. Two-wheelers market attract huge sales during this duration in Nepal.
Hero MotoCorp is perhaps the most trusted brand in the commuter motorcycle segment, but breaking away from its comfort zone, the company has come up with an indigenously developed sports bike – the Xtreme 200R. The motorcycle has been recently launched in India.
The Xtreme 200R is a clear step up from the 149cc Xtreme Sports, which is still on sale. Its motor is a heavily reworked unit from the Achiever 150 and offers a substantial increment in terms of output figures – 18.4hp at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.
Transmission is via a five-speed unit and the engine is a conventional, carburetted, air-cooled two-valve unit. Braking is taken care of by a 276mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear. Single-channel ABS is part of standard equipment.
The bike’s price is competitive and comes well below the likes of the TVS RTR 200 4V(Rs.3,24,900) and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200(Rs. 3,16,900). This makes sense, as Hero is clear that it is not aiming to compete directly with the 200cc segment but is instead focusing on the premium 160cc and 180cc machines. For reference, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 costs Rs 2,86,900, while the new RTR 160 4V is priced at Rs 2,85,900.
Nepal General Marketing Pvt. Ltd , the sole authorised dealer for Hero two-wheelers in Nepal has revealed the pricing for Xtreme 200R and the price is set at Rs.2,86,500.
