VG Automobiles, the authorized dealer of Suzuki two-wheelers in Nepal has launched a 125 cc scooter which looks completely different from the sea of scooter currently available in the market – the Burgman Street.

The Burgman is a maxi scooter but not in every sense of the word. The Burgman Street’s design is derived from its international sibling – the Suzuki Burgman 400.

This is the cheaper version of the Burgman specifically designed to meet the road and safety standards of the Indian sub-continent.

The Suzuki Burgman Street certainly grabs attention, and turns a few heads on the street. After all, there’s nothing quite like it available in the market right now, and that is its biggest USP.

It looks big, and its reasonably large proportions make it appealing. The big front apron with the small flyscreen gives the face a commanding presence, and just a glance at the Burgman Street is enough to make it stand out, whether parked or out on the street.

Suzuki Burgman Street shares its motor with the Access 125, it too produces 8.7PS at 7000rpm, with peak torque of 10.2 Nm generatedat 5000rpm. Power to the rear is transferred via a CVT gearbox.

The Suzuki Burgman Street comes with a plethora of features such as integrated LED headlamps, a fairly large windscreen and the Suzuki Gixxer’s digital instrument cluster. The scooter also gets a 12V charging socket, storage bins behind the front apron, tubeless tyres and multi-function key slot.

The long wheelbase, the stretched out floorboard and the wide handlebars should make the Burgman Street a hoot to ride around town. It’s sheer size also gives it a generous under-seat storage space of 21.5 litres, which is the best in its class.

The LED headlights and turn indicators are neatly incorporated into the smart-looking front apron, and as you move across the profile of the scooter, the neat side panels with the sculpted creases taper off to a nice looking LED taillight, with the tell-tale Burgman Street badge on the side.

Adding to its personality is the large, stepped, single-piece seat ending in the large grab rail and complemented by the chunky exhaust muffler.

This 124.3cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a side-mounted single shock at the rear. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum brakes at the rear, with CBS (combi-braking system) offered as standard.

Equipped with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels, the Suzuki Burgman Street boasts of a ground clearance of 160mm. The 780mm seat height should make it accessible for most riders. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 5.6 litres. Tipping the scale at 110kg, the Burgman Street doesn’t look as heavy as it looks. The Suzuki Burgman Street competes with the Honda Grazia, the TVS NTorq, Vespa LX 125 and the Aprilia SR 125.

The price of Suzuki Burgman Street is set at Rs.229,900.
