Xiaomi unveils MIUI 11 with upgrade roadmap

Xiaomi MIUI 11

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the release date of MIUI 11 in its Global and Beta versions. Internal Betas will arrive from today (September 24th), while Public Beta will be released from September 27th onwards. Know the devices that will receive beta versions, and when Xiaomi plans to release the stable global release.

Xiaomi has made many visual changes to the user interface, which even won the Red Dot Design Award. A rare case for software development.

Xiaomi has added the new Milan Pro font to the system, which is optimized for both Chinese and Latin characters. Also, dynamic font scaling is integrated into the UI- the thickness of the characters automatically changes to increase legibility.

The developers also worked on the sound design – they implemented completely new sound effects based on the natural sounds of nature : water, fire, animal sounds.

MIUI 11 has significantly improves the Always On Display function; the functionality has not changed much, but the new animations looks very nice.

The MIUI 11 has also many new features and applications. In particular, office application packages were added: Mi Work allows you to exchange files and send documents for printing, and Mi Go is useful on a trip – you can turn on extreme energy saving mode in it (the smartphone will last up to 5 hours on a 5% charge). It also now comes with a new app – currency calculator.

Xiaomi promised users the fastest in the history the rollout of MIUI 11 to its smartphones. The closed beta testing began today, the open beta starts on September 27, and a stable version is promised in October. The plans for its release are as follows:

Quite remarkable on this list is the total absence of the Pocophone F1. Obviously Xiaomi will not abandon this device, so updates should be released concurrently with Mi 8. There is no mention of Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, so it is believed that updates will be released concurrently with the K20 and K20 Pro.
