Canonical launches Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish

April is Ubuntu month, and this year’s release is version 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish. After several years of attempting to grab a share of the Windows operating system market, Linux now has just over 2% of the world’s operating system users.

Canonical recently released Ubuntu 22.04 LTS! This will be the true Windows 11 competitor.

The new Ubuntu 22.04 has a new horizontal workspace switcher and program launcher, new featured user interface colors, RDP compatibility, and a Linux 5.15 kernel. Additionally, as an LTS (long-term support) version, it includes five years of support.

However, the most remarkable aspect of this new edition is its fluidity!

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS arrives with kernel 5.15

Ubuntu is one of the most widely used Linux distributions worldwide. This distribution comes in numerous flavors, the most popular being for desktop use, but there is also a server version.

The new Ubuntu 22.04 has a new horizontal workspace switcher and program launcher, new featured user interface colors, RDP compatibility, and a Linux 5.15 kernel. Additionally, because this is an LTS (long-term support) version, it includes five years of support.

Additionally, this new edition of Ubuntu provides a new experience, including a redesigned screenshot tool.

This new edition is visually lighter, with a fresh palette of colors that makes navigating more intuitive. There is also a new set of wallpapers and a new logo available. Additionally, the GNOME Shell user interface has been simplified in this edition.


Support for RDP has been added to improve connectivity, while Linux 5.15 and Mesa 22 have been integrated to optimize system performance. For users upgrading from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Wayland is the default graphics server.

Thus far, Windows 11 has received widespread appreciation. Will this new Ubuntu 22.04 LTS version sway some Windows users?
