Honda launches 49cc Lite scooters Giorno and Dunk in Japanese market

Honda Giorno Dunk Scooters

While Japan is home to a plethora of eccentric and flamboyant scooters, the streets are also strewn with simple and easy to ride scooters that are reasonably priced.

Honda has introduced redesigned versions of its Giorno and Dunk entry-level scooters in its domestic market, replacing the previous models.

The riding experience on both scooters is straightforward, which appeals to people searching for a simple everyday commuter.

The new Honda 50cc scooters have the identical internals as their predecessors, but they have distinctive top hats that signify different flavors.

Honda Giorno

While Giorno offers a classic style, Dunk appears to be more geared at a younger demographic of riders by including contemporary stylistic aspects.

Both scooters have a modest and neutral design, yet they exude the impression of great quality that Honda is known for.

Starting with Giorno, the revised scooter now has the proportions of a standard-sized scooter in its design. Some of the most noticeable features include a rounded headlight and overall retro scooter design elements, as evidenced by the curving bodywork.

At first look, Giorno’s design is evocative of vintage Vespa scooters from the 1960s. The scooter’s chrome accents around the headlamp, taillamp, turn indicators, rear fenders, and tail section give it an old-school look and feel.

Honda Dunk

Dunk, on the other hand, is more trendy and current, thanks to the use of edgy panels all over the body. It is distinguished by a V-shaped halogen headlight located on the front apron, which is flanked by bulb turn indicators.

While Giorno is equipped with silver-colored alloy wheels, Dunk has black alloy wheels, which contribute to the vehicle’s athletic image. Both scooters are available in a variety of colour combinations.

Currently, Giorno is available in four different colour schemes: Virgin Beige, Pearl Deep Mud Grey, Matte Armored Green Metallic, and Summer Pink.

Honda Dunk 50cc

Dunk, its more contemporary twin, is available in three colorways: Matte Jeans Blue Metallic, Pearl Deep Mud Gray, and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, to name a few.

The scooters are well-suited to city commuting because of a multitude of commuter-friendly features. There is a 12V USB charging connector in the glovebox of both scooters, as well as a 500ml capacity for storage in the glovebox.

Only a 49cc single-cylinder engine powers both scooters, producing a modest 4.5 PS of peak power and 4.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.

A typical telescopic fork system at the front is used to provide suspension for the two scooters in their hardware configuration. While Giorno has two rear shock absorbers, Dunk only has one. Drum brakes are used on both ends of the former and disc brakes are used on both ends of the latter.

The small engine scooters are priced at JPY 2,09,000 and JPY 2,29,900 respectively.
