Although not one of the most popular manufacturers globally, much has been said about the arrival of the new flagship smartphone from Meizu. The Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro was officially launched recently and comes with premium specifications at an extremely competitive price. Xiaomi watch out !
The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro follow the recipe of Snapdragon 5G processor, thin bezels, high refresh rate screen and integrated fingerprint sensor. The main highlight include the 3D depth sensor in the Pro model, which promises better photos in portrait mode, in addition to other features.
The new models also debut the updated Flyme 8.1 user interface, based on Android 10. In addition to Meizu 17 series, the Chinese manufacturer announced that the updates Flyme 8.1 UI will also be rolled out to 10 other devices already on the market.
The look of the Meizu 17 series is marked by a 92.2% screen ratio, thanks to a bottom edge of just 3.3mm. The 20 MP selfie camera is located in a circular cutout of 2.9 mm in diameter, the outer edge of which serves as a battery indicator . Following the trend of 2020 line of flagships, the 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and HDR along with Super mTouch in-display fingerprint reader with a release speed of 0.15 seconds.
Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro: The Differences
The main differences lie in the option of wireless charging and reverse charging, available only in the Pro model, in addition to the configuration of the cameras.
While the base model Meizu 17 uses a traditional quadruple set with main camera (64 megapixels), portrait (12 MP), macro (5 MP) and wide angle (8 MP), the 17 Pro includes an upgrade to the wide angle sensor, now with 32 megapixels, in addition to replacing the other secondary cameras with an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor and an unprecedented 3D sensor from Samsung .
The 3D sensor, in addition to improving the blur in portrait mode, can be used for other applications, such as 3D animations on the screen and wallpapers.
The 17 Pro additionally comes with wireless charging support of 27 W which is absent on the Meizu 17. Both devices are powered by 4500 mAh battery that supports wire charging of 27 W.
The Meizu 17 Pro has a glass rear panel while the Meizu 17 Pro has a ceramic cover.

The phone comes with a 6.60-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels at a pixel density of 390 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Meizu 17 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The Meizu 17 Pro is powered by a 4500mAh non-removable battery. The Meizu 17 Pro supports wireless charging, as well as Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.
