Sastodeal ties up with Flipkart India to offer wide variety of products

Indian e-commerce company Flipkart has entered the Nepali market through a strategic partnership with Nepal’s leading e-commerce platform Sastodeal. Two years ago, in 2018, US multinational Walmart paid 16 billion to acquire 81 percent stake in e-commerce company Flipkart. India’s leading e-commerce platform has thus entered into a strategic partnership with SastoDeal.com .

However, both the companies have not given any official information. “In a few days, a joint statement will be issued from both Nepal and India on such a strategic partnership,” said an official associated with the company.

Flipkart has expanded its market in Nepal under a long-term strategic partnership through SastoDeal.com. In the first phase, Flipkart will provide 5,000 items that it has been providing in India on sastodeal’s platform. It is preparing to provide more than 100,000 products by gradually adding baby materials, electronic materials, books, furniture etc.

Flipkart provides over 10 million different products on its online platform in India. An official at sastodeal claims that after the partnership with Flipkart, online buyers in Nepal can benefit from array of products provided by the company. Products purchased from Flipkart will only attract import taxes which gives consumers the opportunity to buy goods at cheap prices,” he added. Sastodeal will also provide clothes, vehicles spare parts, machinery tools etc. in the near future.

The company plans to deliver goods from India to the consumer’s home within a week and a maximum of 21 days. SastoDeal has partnered with Flipkart and its subsidiary Myntra.com. Myntra is an Indian fashion e-commerce company founded in 2007 to sell personalized gift items which was acquired by Flipkart later in 2014.

Sastodeal states that millions of consumers are now connected to this online shopping platform. Flipkart.com is an e-commerce company started in 2007 by Sachin Banshal and Winnie Banshal in Bangalore, India.

The majority of shares in Flipkart are owned by US multinational Walmart, an official said. The company, which initially started selling books, has since started selling consumer electronic items, fashion and home essentials and other consumer goods online.

Two years ago, in 2018, US multinational company  Walmart bought an 81% stake in Flickr for US$ 16 billion. Another tech giant Microsoft also has a partial investment of 1.3% in Flipkart.
