OnePlus 13 May Lack Wireless Charging Support, According to Reputable Tipster
The upcoming OnePlus 13 flagship smartphone is expected to deliver a performance boost with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. However, a recent leak suggests a potential downgrade in the charging department.
Respected tipster Digital Chat Station revealed on Weibo that the OnePlus 13 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, feature a 6000mAh battery, and support 100W fast charging. While the increased battery capacity and maintained wired charging speed are noteworthy, the tipster hinted that the OnePlus 13 may not offer wireless charging.
As highlighted by Notebookcheck, OnePlus promotes the OnePlus 12 as the “Fastest Wireless Charging” flagship Android smartphone on Amazon.com. The absence of wireless charging in the OnePlus 13 could disappoint users who have come to expect this feature in high-end devices.
The tipster did not provide a specific reason for the potential omission of wireless charging. However, the larger 6000mAh battery may contribute to this decision, as it adds weight and takes up more space within the phone, possibly making it challenging to accommodate the magnetic coil required for wireless charging.
This would not be the first time OnePlus has omitted wireless charging from a flagship model, having done so with the OnePlus 11. The trend may continue with the company’s 2025 flagship.
The same tipster previously shared that the OnePlus 13 will feature a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO display with a micro-curved design and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
The smartphone is rumored to launch sometime in November or December, positioning it as one of the first devices to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.
