Smart Telecom starts installation of optical fiber in 19 districts

Smart Telecom has started installation of optical fiber in 19 districts of western region – in Province 5, Karnali Province and Far Western Province.

The work officially started from Nepalgunj on Wednesday, according to the company.

The Government of Nepal had given Smart telecom authority to lay optical fiber, with Nepal Telecommunications Authority bearing all the cost of the project through Rural Telecommunication Development Fund.

Smart Telecom and China Communication Service Nepal (CCS) are working together on this project.

Under this project, 2,500-km-long fiber is laid through 19 districts along routes connecting the highway with the headquarters. Smart Telecom aims to complete the project within a year.
