Big Mart opens at Lazimpat

After two years of successful operation at City Centre, Kamal Pokhari, Mega Mart, has opened the Big Mart Department Store in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. The new outlet has been opened in the space previously occupied by the Bluebird Department Store. The company has invested Rs 50 million in the project.

The store is spread over 19,000 sqft in a three-story building. However, only the 9,000 sqft ground floor was opened on Sunday. The ground floor features a complete range of food items, beauty products, staples, liquors, tobacco and frozen items, among others. “Next two floors will be opened within this month,” said Antim Ranjit, marketing and branding manager of Mega Mart, adding that there will be household products, stationery items, cosmetics, ladies bags and shoes on the second floor and unisexual saloon and Spa on the third. Likewise, there will also be four ATM counters.

The company has also offered 5 percent flat discount on all the food items and 3 percent on liquor items for six days, starting Sunday. Likewise, it has also launched a lucky draw offer under which costumers can win exiting gift hampers.

According to Ranjit, the company plans to open five more outlets within the Kathmandu Valley soon. “Construction work has already begun in Battisputali, Kathmandu, and Jawlakhel, Lalitpur.

We are searching for spaces in other places,” he said. Besides, the company has also planned to expand its business cities outside the Valley. The newly opened store has provided employment to 60 individuals.(Source:ekantipur)
