Nokia 3310 is launching in Nepal today and will officially be available in stores at a price tag of Rs 5,250. HMD Global, the company that is bringing back Nokia-branded phones in the market, is banking on nostalgia to generate some interest around the brand.
In an age where smartphones dominate, it is rather odd to see the interest around Nokia 3310, a vintage feature phone which was launched back in the year 2000.
The original 3310 sold 126 million phones, the 12th best-selling phone model in history. Nine of the top 12 selling models were produced by Nokia.
Nokia 3310 (2017) mobile was launched in February 2017. The phone comes with a 2.40-inch display with a resolution of 240 pixels by 320 pixels.
The phone packs 16MB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Nokia 3310 (2017) packs a 2-megapixel primary camera on the rear.
The Nokia 3310 (2017) runs Series 30 (Symbian OS) and is powered by a 1200mAh removable battery. It measures 115.60 x 51.00 x 12.80 (height x width x thickness) .
The Nokia 3310 (2017) is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) mobile that accepts Micro-SIM and Micro-SIM. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and FM.
It’s a 2G phone and supports Edge Technology(135kbps- 473 kbps).
The phone supports a whopping 22 hour talktime battery charge and upto 744 hours of standby time which translates to 31 days.
It also revives the one-time hit time waster game Snake featured on the original phone, the “Angry Birds” of its day. In a modern twist, fans can now play Snake in Facebook Messenger.
HMD also announced three smartphones that run on Google’s Android platform: The Nokia 6 smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen, the Nokia 5 with a 5.2-inch screen and the Nokia 3 with a 5.0-inch screen.
Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 is also set to launch at the end of this month while the much anticipated Nokia 6 will be available by the end of June in Nepali market.
