The Tata Group’s hospitality arm, Indian Hotels Company, has signed a pact with the Chaudhary Group to open a Vivanta Hotel in Kathmandu. This will be the company’s second hotel in Nepal after the Taj Meghauli Serai in Chitwan.
The hotel is located in Jhamsikhel and will offer 111 spacious rooms and suites with a selection of rooms offering panoramic views of the beautiful city of Kathmandu. The property will offer all-day dining and speciality restaurants, bar, banqueting facilities and spa.

“We are delighted to once again partner with Indian Hotels Company. After having signed a partnership for 12 hospitality projects with the company in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, India and Nepal, we are now introducing the Vivanta brand to Nepal. We look forward to bringing the legendary Indian hospitality to the city of Kathmandu,” said Rahul Chaudhary, managing director of CG Corp Global and director of R&R Hotels and Resorts.
Puneet Chhatwal, managing director and chief executive officer of The Indian Hotels Company, said, “We are honoured to partner with R&R Hotels and Resorts for this new hotel. Kathmandu is an extremely popular tourist destination, and this hotel will help us complete a tourist circuit with Meghauli Serai, our Taj Safari lodge in Chitwan National Park.”
R&R Hotels and Resorts is a major shareholder in CG Hospitality. CG Hospitality owns and operates over 95 hotels and resort in 12 countries and 70 destinations. By 2020, the portfolio is expected to grow to over 200 hotels, CG Hospitality said in a press statement.
“CG Hospitality has its presence in every class of segments including luxury hotels, business class hotels, safari lodges, resorts and spas, mid-range hotels, holiday destinations and world class residencies,” it added.
The Indian Hotels Company includes Taj, the hallmark of iconic hospitality, and Vivanta with its collection of sophisticated upscale hotels.
Incorporated by the founder of the Tata Group, Jamsetji Tata, the company opened its first hotel—the Taj Mahal Palace—in Bombay in 1903. The company operates 170 hotels including 25 under development globally across four continents, 12 countries and in over 80 locations.
The Indian Hotels Company is among South Asia’s largest Indian hospitality companies by market capitalisation, the company claimed.
