Meizu-16s

The new flagship device Meizu 16s should be unveiled by the end of May , according to information revealed by the company late last year. It has already been the target of some leaks, which quote from technical specifications to possible photos and renderings of the model . Now, a new image has been released, which goes against what has already been known, practically confirming several characteristics.

The Meizu 16s will be the direct successor of the Meizu 16 launched last year. The device recently appeared on TENAA’s listings as Meizu M971Q model number along with it’s full specifications.

The Meizu M971Q (Meizu 16s) images that have been leaked through its TENAA listing reveals that will be featuring a dual camera setup and a ring flash at the top-left corner of its rear shell. The frontside of the phone is not clearly visible but based on the leaked photos it can be said that the phone will be offering a symmetrical design like the Meizu 16th. Also reduced bezels, the smartphone is expected to offer slightly higher screen-to-body ratio than the Meizu 16th smartphone.

As per the, TENAA listings the Meizu 16s would sport a 6.2-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 * 2232 pixels. There is no word on whether the display will have some type of notch. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 clocked at 2.8 GHz would power the Meizu 16s paired with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. The smartphone would have two internal storage options of 128GB and 256GB.

In terms of camera, the Meizu 16s would sport a dual-camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with ring LED flash at the back. There are no details available on the secondary sensor at the moment. On the front is a 20MP camera for selfies.

The Meizu 16s would pack a 3,540 mAh battery with USB Type-C port and support for 24W fast-charging. The device Is said to have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and GLONASS. The device would be available in three colours — Black, White and Gradient Blue and run on Flyme OS based on Android 9.0.

An apparent screenshot of the Meizu 16s’ performance on Antutu Benchmark test revealed a shocking score  of 357,975 points. To help put that into perspective, the recently released Xiaomi Mi 9 with same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC scored 374,820 points on AnTuTu. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro managed 300,617 and the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (with Exynos 9820) scored 333,277.

What this means is that the SD855 is a very fast SoC and the alleged Meizu 16s is a very fast smartphone. It’s believed the model in the AnTuTu benchmark is a pre-production device, which means the final version could be even faster. Of course, there’s always the chance the test has been faked; we will know for sure how well the smartphone performs when the Meizu 16s gets in the hands of our reviewers.

The Chinese manufacturer may soon confirm on the launch date for the Meizu 16s series.
