While the front is quite standard, the smartphone really shines in its back. Though a sizable camera island has been present on the rear for some time now, the addition of a see-through panel and LED lighting to the right of the camera system makes it feel fresh. This official note claims that the smartphone’s flagship-level processor can be viewed through a transparent glass on the back.

Around this pane of glass, Halo LEDs provide ambient illumination. The smartphone is available in a wide range of colors, with the purple model sporting the industry’s first rear panel manufactured with light matte fusion technology to offer textured glass. Meanwhile, the LED illumination is RGB enabled and features 25 customizable color temperatures.

Specifications

The 6.74-inch OLED display of the Realme GT Neo 5 has a 2772 x 1240 (1.5K) resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, with 2160Hz PWM dimming.

In terms of speed, battery life, and internal hardware, the Realme GT Neo 5 is on par with premium smartphones costing far more.

It has the previous generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is still very powerful. This chipset can work with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and either 256GB or 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage, depending on the model you choose. It’s worth noting that there are two distinct smartphone models available, each with its own charging speed and battery capacity.

The first is the more budget-friendly 150W model, which still packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports fast cable charging at an astounding 150W. The more expensive model, meanwhile, is powered by the world’s first 240W fast charging capabilities with a smaller 4,600mAh battery pack.

As of this writing, this is the maximum charging speed available from a USB Type C connector. Based on Realme’s claims, the charging time from 1% to 20% is just 80 seconds.

There are three cameras located on the back of the Realme GT Neo 5. The OIS-compatible Sony IMX890 sensor makes up this module’s 50 megapixel resolution. This primary camera has a 2 megapixel macro sensor and an extreme wide-angle lens with 8 megapixels of resolution (Sony IMX355). Meanwhile, up front is where you’ll find the 16-megapixel selfie camera.
