Skoda “Yeti” to be seen in Nepali roads soon

Morang Auto Works (MAW), the sole distributor of the international auto giant Skoda, in Nepal, organised a pre-launch test drive for its new model ‘Skoda Yeti’ at Nagarkot in Bhaktapur on Saturday.

MAW is preparing to launch the vehicle, a compact SUV, in the Nepali market soon.

“It is a complete SUV built with a combination of all the virtues of on-road and off-road four wheelers’ capabilities,” said N.K. Sharma of MAW.

“It is the latest from the Skoda lineout with a mature look and is different in terms of size, performance, practicality and safety as compared to other SUVs in the market.” Skoda MAW so far has sold four Skoda Yetis in the Nepali market. It costs Rs. 5.6 million. However, the price may go up after the budget for the next fiscal year is announced.

Electrically adjustable panoramic sunroof, central locking system, dashboard with multi-function digital display, dual air conditioning system, air bags, Bi-Xenon headlamps with rotary modules and front fog lamps and CD player with MP3 are some features of the Skoda Yeti.

The petrol-run Yeti offers a mileage of 8-10 km per litre depending on the road conditions.

“It has won the ‘Family Car of the Year’ – BBC Top Gear Magazine Awards 2010, and is also the most highly rated in the independent Euro New Car Assessment Programme tests,” said Rukesh Ranjit, sales manager of MAW Skoda.

The model will be available in the market in seven metallic colours – platin grey, mato brown, brilliant silver, rosso brunello, cappuccino beige, black magic pearl and aqua blue.
