Alfa Romeo Tonale compact SUV official at GMS 2019
Alfa Romeo Tonale is finally official at the Geneva Motor Show , where FCA has finally lifted the veil on the first compact SUV of Alfa , which goes to bring the experience gained with Stelvio in a more compact format that will have the task of pushing sales with a proposal much more sought after by the market.
There were great expectations regarding Tonale, since the company was able to keep the maximum privacy on the vehicle until a few hours from the presentation. The one exhibited at the Salone is a concept that anticipates the final design that will be produced in Italy at the Pomigliano headquarters from next year .
Among its features are the special design of the 21″ wheels and Pirelli tires created exclusively. The front lights are offered in 3 + 3 configuration, while the rear one has a more sophisticated style and less similar to that of a common headlight. Inside the cabin we find aluminum elements and seats with leather upholstery and Alcantara, while the vehicle is entrusted with infotainment management by two displays – one main 12.3 “and one touch 10.25” – that allow access both to vehicle information and to social elements such as Alfista and Paddock .
“Alfista” is an engaging experience of Alfa Romeo Lifestyle that offers an interface totally connected with some Alfa Romeo clubs and community events such as meetings, guides and meetings. This on-board app gives the driver access to live news and updates on Alfa Romeo events. The customer can confirm his presence at events and gatherings, order tickets for the events of the “Alfa Romeo Racing” team, try to win VIP access to special events sponsored by Alfa Romeo and much more.
“Paddock” is Alfa Romeo Tonale’s garage and on-board market for real-time viewing and the purchase of upgrades and innovative equipment for interiors and exteriors. The app also allows the customer to browse the latest offers of merchandising and clothing Alfa Romeo, ordered directly with a simple touch of the screen.
Tonale is a plug-in hybrid that exploits Jeep’s Small Wide 4×4 platform , so it’s possible to assume that it will be available in a front-wheel drive version, while the electric motor will only act in rear-wheel drive. Among the new features we report that the “Dynamic” mode evolves into “Dual Power” to ensure maximum output from the two engines. An “E-motion” button is provided on the touch screen of the infotainment, offering a specific accelerator calibration, a cleaner braking and a more direct steering response.
The “Natural” mode continues to maintain the best performance optimization and the management of the compromise between electric motor and thermal engine is automatic. In this way, in daily use, energy saving and consumption are not at the expense of performance. The “Advance Efficiency” mode becomes “Advance E” for full electric performance. So, in keeping with the brand’s philosophy, the plug-in hybrid propulsion enhances the beauty, sportiness and driving dynamics typical of each Alfa Romeo model, taking them to a new level.
Recall that the Fiat Centoventi has just recently become official , also unveiled a few minutes ago in Geneva during the FCA event.
