The unveiled vehicle featured blacked-out windows and windscreens and more details about the interior will be known closer to its launch date.
The Creta is offered with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engine options. The standard petrol motor is a 1.5-litre producing 112bhp/144Nm and can be had with a CVT or a six-speed manual. The more exciting petrol motor is a 1.4-litre Turbo GDi unit producing 138bhp/242Nm and is only being offered with a seven-speed DCT.
The sole diesel on offer is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit producing 113bhp/250Nm and can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
The Hyundai Creta is the most successful car in the segment since it was launched in 2015 and took the segment by a storm thanks to its combination of powerful engines and strong feature list. It’s a rival to the likes of the Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and Captur as well as cars like the MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
Hyundai Creta Safety: Safety features on offer include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
The Hyundai Creta is available in five variants — E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O). The base E model is only available with the diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The EX model can be had with either of the 1.5-litre engines with the manual transmission. The same goes for the S model which gets more features. SX and SX(O) models are available with all three engines and each of their auto ‘box options in addition to a manual transmission.
Hyundai decision to revamp the Creta in India comes in light of stiff competition that has been put forth by new entrants like the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector that has eaten into the car’s sales since its launch. The same segment is also currently the most sought-after segment, that has encouraged several automakers to dip their toes into it.
The Hyundai Creta features an all-new exterior design. It is equipped with LED headlamps and taillamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and LED taillamps. The Creta’s interior is all-new as well, with climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a Bose sound system, cruise control, and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
Its 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system features BlueLink connected car features with voice commands as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV can be remotely monitored and some of its functions can be operated too.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is available in a total of five powertrain combinations. All of these have been borrowed from the Kia Seltos and comply with BS6 emission norms. Take a look at them in the table below:
