Gigabyte introduced the external graphics accelerator Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box. The device is intended for use with various laptops and mini-PCs and will provide a significant increase in performance in graphics processing.
In a relatively compact case with dimensions of 300 × 140 × 173 mm, the Gigabyte WaterForce GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card is equipped with a liquid cooling system with a 240-mm radiator.
Note that the graphics processor and video memory in the new product work with reference frequencies of 1350/1545 MHz. However, the presence of a liquid cooling system should allow users to overclock the video card to very high frequencies.
Also inside the case there is a 450 W power supply with a pair of 8-pin connectors designed to power the video card. To connect an external video card –Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box to a laptop, the Thunderbolt 3 interface is used, implemented in the USB Type-C connector format.
In addition to the USB Type-C connector, the Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box has three DisplayPort connectors, one HDMI, one VirtualLink (USB Type-C), as well as three USB 3.0 ports and an RJ-45 network port. The latter will be useful to users of thin and compact laptops, which usually do not have a network port, and sometimes there are not enough USB connectors. At the bottom of the front panel of the case is a strip of RGB-backlight.
Unfortunately, the release dates for the Aorus RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box, as well as the cost of the most powerful external graphics card to date, have not yet been specified. But it is safe to say that the price will be very high.
