Sony Xperia 5 II launched with Snapdragon 865 and Triple Cameras

After many rumors and leaks , Sony finally introduced the new Xperia 5 II smartphone today(Sept 17) . The device bets heavily on the good user experience by joining a series of specifications and features that are exclusive to the brand.

In addition, the device’s design draws attention due to its 21: 9 format screen and comes equipped with a flagship Snapdragon 865 processor with 5G support. So, without further ado, let’s dive into further details about this device.

Featuring a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 21: 9 aspect ratio , the Xperia 5 II stands out for being narrow and tall, something that has become a trademark of Sony smartphones.

The Sony Xperia 5 II has a CinemaWide display with FHD + and HDR resolution. It also supports 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling.

The device is constructed of glass, the protection being provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 6, while the metal frame maintains the necessary rigidity for daily use.

The fingerprint reader is side-mounted on the power button on the right side and just below there are two more buttons: The first is dedicated to Google Assistant and the second is used to activate the camera. Finally, there is a P2 input for headphones.

When it comes to cameras, the Xperia 5 II features a triple setup grouped in a small module in the upper corner. Sony points out that each sensor has a resolution of 12 MP  with three focal lengths of 16 mm, 24 mm and 70 mm.

The device allows you to record videos in 4K HDR resolution at up to 120 fps through the Cinema Pro application (pre-installed). The manufacturer also promises that this guarantees high quality slow motion.

Another highlight offered by Sony is the presence of the partnership with Zeiss lenses. Finally, we also have a front camera with 8 MP resolution.

Under the hood the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage, with memory card support of up to 1 TB. The battery is 4,000 mAh, with features to save energy and avoid high temperatures while recharging while the user plays.

The phone comes with Android 10 factory installed, and comes with input for headphones (3.5 mm), USB-C port, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.

Sony Xperia 5 II: Price and Availability

In the United States, pre-order for the Xperia 5 II is scheduled to begin on September 29, with the list price of $950 (about NRs 112,000 in direct conversion). If ordered by November 29, the user will still take home a $400 game package, including a gamer headset, a 10,000 mAh power bank, and 21,600 points for Call of Duty: Mobile.

The phone is expected to reach consumers on December 4, 2020.
