Škoda Octavia Fourth Gen launched in Nepal

MAW Enterprises, the authorized dealer of ŠKODA automobiles has launched new Škoda Octavia premium sedan in Nepali market.

Issuing a statement, the company said that the new Škoda Octavia is available in three trims – Ambition, Style and L&K. Additionally, the vehicle is available in 8 different options of engine and transmission.

Founded in 1895 as Laurin & Klement(L&K) and acquired by Škoda Works in 1925 , the Czech automobile company is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen group since 2000.

Skoda Octavia caters to the need of buyers falling between executive to premium range. Octavia’s smart exteriors highlighted by split headlamps and typical Skoda grille gel very well with the overall design theme of the car. Interiors are plush and overall fit-finish is the best among the segment.

The Skoda Octavia is known to offer one of the best ride and handling packages in the segment since the first-gen model.

The Skoda Octavia will get both diesel and petrol engines. The 1.8-litre TSI engine makes 178 bhp and is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox while the smaller 1.4-litre TSI gets mated to a 6-speed manual and makes 147 bhp. The diesel is the tried and tested 2-litre motor that makes 147 bhp and gets mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The Octavia gets 8 airbags in the top spec version while the other variants get 4 airbags. ABS (anti-lock brakes), EBD (electronic brake distribution) and traction control come as standard.

The current generation Octavia was launched originally in 2013 and goes up against the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla Altis.

The new car has a fair few visible updates including the new signature face design. Skoda has moved away from the single headlamp cluster for the Octavia to a split headlamp unit that Skoda calls QuadraLED headlights because it’s split into four compartments.

The rear bench is placed at good height and offers good thigh support. Under the Hood, Skoda has offered a total of 3 engine options – a 141 BHP 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and 148 BHP 1.4-litre TSI and 178 BHP 1.8-liter TSI petrol engines.

There is that signature butterfly grille at the centre along with the LED daytime running lights and fog lamps on the bumper, which is new as well. The overall design of the car stays the same on the side and on the rear with the tail lights getting a new LED lighting pattern. The new Skoda Octavia also gets a new set of alloy wheels.

Along with new set of alloy wheels, the updated interior sees a new eight-inch touchscreen Columbus infotainment system with smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, folding tables on seat backs, customisable key, heated steering wheel, optional SIM card module with LTE support, WLAN hotspot, bottle holders and additional storage bins, etc.

Both petrol and diesel variants are offered with manual as well as automatic transmission options.

For safety feature, the top spec L&K comes with 8 airbags while the Style and Ambition trims come with 6 and 4 airbags respectively. Anti-Lock Braking, EBD(Electronic Brake Distribution) and Traction Control are common features accross all trims.

Octavia is available in four color options – Quartz Grey Metallic, Magic Black, Candy White and Brilliant Silver.

The petrol powered base variant of Octavia – Ambition is priced at NRs. 71 Lakhs while the top variant L&K is priced at NRs. 1.02 Crore. Similarly the diesel powered Octavia Ambition is priced at Rs.91 Lakhs and reaches upto Rs.1.11 crore for the top-spec L&K variant.

Skoda Octavia has got the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, and Hyundai Elantra in its crosshairs.
