Electricity Tariff Revision Nepal

The revised electricity tariff rate, which was proposed by the Nepal Electricity Authority, is now in effect, effective from today. On the suggestion of the National Electricity Administration, the new tariff rate set by the Electricity Regulatory Commission has been applied.

The new tariff rate, which is effective immediately and will be reflected in the December billing, will be in force from today. As a result of the revised power tariff rate, clients who utilize less than 5 amperes and up to 20 units per month will not be charged an energy price, while a Rs 30 minimum monthly fee has been set.

It is estimated that around 2.2 million consumers will receive the service at a cost of only Rs 30 per month. As a result, the commission has decreased the domestic rate by an average of 2.84 percent in order to increase electricity usage among homes while also ensuring that customers are paying a reasonable price for their electricity.

A similar reduction has been made in the energy fee for clients who consume between 151 and 250 units of power from single phase, which has been decreased by 50 paise to Rs 9.50 per unit. The energy tariff for those who utilize more than 400 units has been cut by Rs 1 per unit to Rs 11.

Energy rates have been set variably for the rainy season and the winter, however the minimum fee for clients who use three phase meters has remained unchanged . Customers who use up to 400 units of power per month in three-phase service are currently set Rs 11.50 per unit; however, this will be reduced to Rs 10.50 in the rainy season and Rs 11.50 in the winter.

Consumers who consume more than 400 units of electricity per month would see their current energy tariff of Rs 12 per unit cut to Rs 10.50 in the rainy season and Rs 11.50 in the winter, down from Rs 12 per unit previously.

Customers who operate tubewells and irrigation users will see a 40.69 percent reduction in their current pricing, according to the commission’s announcement. According to the new tariff rate, the demand price for industrial customers who have time-of-day (TOD) meters has been increased, but energy rates for off-peak hours (11pm to 5am) have been lowered. The new tariff rate is effective immediately.
