Nissan, a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer has launched its new compact SUV Kicks in the Indian market today . The new Nissan Kicks has already been launched in the American market and has finally made its way to emerging markets like India.
The Kicks SUV is aiming to break into the tightly-contested mid-sized SUV segment currently ruled by the Hyundai Creta. The brand has not seen much success in our market, as its last SUV, the Terrano, was overshadowed by its sibling, the Renault Duster. Nissan’s sister brand, Renault, also has a model that contends with the Creta, the stylish Captur. However, the Kicks promises to be a well-rounded package and aims to change the Japanese manufacturer’s fortunes in India.
The India-spec Nissan Kicks retains almost all the cues present on the international model. The India-spec Kicks has several new features as well – like the redesigned front bumper with faux air-inlets above the fog lights and an aluminium skid plate – all of which are meant to add a dash of toughness to the Kicks’ appearance. Size-wise, the India-spec Kicks is bigger than the international model. It measures in at 4,384mm, 89mm longer than the model sold abroad, and is also wider (1,813mm) and taller (1,656mm) with a longer wheelbase (2,673mm).
The new Nissan Kicks is offered in four variants – XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium +.The company has introduced the SUV in four variants (two for the petrol and four for the diesel) and going by the features list, even lower trims are decently equipped.
The Nissan Kicks also shares its powertrain with the Renault Captur. The Nissan Kicks is available with a set of 1.5-litre engines. The petrol motor produces 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is paired with a 6-speed manual and puts out 110PS and 240Nm. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the petrol engine is 14.23kmpl while the diesel offers 19.39/20.45kmpl.
In terms of safety features, the Kicks comes with dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and front seat-belts with pretensioners and load limiters as standard. The rear-view camera is offered from the XV variant on wards, while the top-spec XV Premium + variant also gets a 360-degree camera, front side airbags, rear fog lamps, ESP, traction control and hill hold assist.
As far as comfort and convenience enhancing features are concerned, the Nissan Kicks offers cruise control and climate control with rear AC vents as standard. Some of the features on offer include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, cornering front fog lamps and LED projector headlamps. It also gets a front armrest as standard, along with bits of chrome accents on the inside door handles and parking brake lever.
The compact SUV, which is offered in seven colors additionally is offered in four dual-tone colors for the top-spec variant.Nissan is also offering three styling packages called the ‘Essential’, ‘Style’ and ‘Urban’ for additional touches to the interior and exterior of the Kicks compact SUV. These include decals, steering wheel covers, ambient lighting, seat covers, floor mats and more.
The 2019 Nissan Kicks has been priced in Indian market with prices starting at INR 9.55 lakh for the base Kicks XL petrol variant, going up to INR 14.65 lakh for the top-end Kicks XV Premium+ diesel variant.
Nissan Kicks Price in Nepal
Nissan Nepal has now launched the Kicks in Nepali market following the launch in India last month.
The vehicle has been be priced starting at NRs.48.99 Lakh for the base trim and NRs. 72.99 Lakhs for the top spec trim.
