Hyundai has finally introduced the four-wheel-drive version of its flagship SUV, the Tucson, in Nepali market. Named after the city of Tucson nestled in the state of Arizona-USA , where SUVs are as common as momos and burgers.
There’s a lot to like about the 2018 Hyundai Tucson. First and foremost is value. You get a ton of features for the money spent in the Tucson.A power driver seat, heated front seats, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard on all but the base trim, for instance.
The Tucson’s top trim level, the Limited, includes features such as a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, ventilated seats, LED headlights and a navigation system, all for a price that’s thousands less than what you’ll pay for some comparably equipped rival crossovers.
The Hyundai Tucson 4WD (diesel automatic) has now replaced the existing front-wheel-drive range-topping diesel GLS automatic by this 4WD model.
The Tucson’s arch rival, the Jeep Compass, offers a full-spec diesel 4×4 option at a lower price but comes with a manual transmission. Jeep Compass diesel automatic 4×4 is likely expected to launch next year.
The Tucson’s 4WD model is pulled by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine (185PS/400Nm) and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Like its rivals, the Tucson comes with an on-demand 4WD system, which automatically sends power to rear wheels by assessing road conditions to improve traction. There’s a ‘4WD Lock’ mode as well, which splits the torque in a 50:50 ratio between front and rear axles.
Besides this, Hyundai now offers additional safety features in the petrol and diesel GL trims, which were earlier exclusive to the GLS trim (not available with the petrol). Both the variants now feature: electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill assist control (HAC), downhill brake control (DBC) and brake assist.
The Tucson features a total of five variants and offers two engine and two transmission options.
The Hyundai Tucson prices have also gone down across its variant lineup, despite it now offering more in its GL and GLS trims. The Jeep Compass effect?
