CES 2019 : Dell Alienware m15 and m17 with Core i9 and NVIDIA RTX 20 series

Dell announces at the CES 2019 the notebooks Alienware m15 and Alienware m17 , two solutions designed for gamers who do not seek compromises in terms of performance, build quality and design. Additionally optimized to favor the gaming in mobility, the new Alienware 2019 are noted especially for its compact size, without renouncing to the top range of hardware configurations that include the use of processors up to Intel 8th Gen Core i9 series K , flanked with latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX Max-Q.

Alienware m15 is a 15.6 “notebook with a chassis built in magnesium alloy, the thickness of only 21mm and the weight of 2.16 kg make it one of the lightest gaming notebook on the market. It comes with Intel eighth generation CPU and graphics options from the powerful NVIDIA RTX 2080 Max-Q. The new Alienware m15 will retain the current Epic Silver and Nebula Red chassis designs, outfitted with the AlienFX RGB lighting.

On the display side of things, top-of-the-range Alienware m15 models will come with a 4K HDR 400-rated display panel, which will be able to hit up to 500 nits brightness in HDR mode. Dell will continue to offer Full-HD and Ultra-HD IPS LCDs with cheaper models, as well as Full-HD 144 Hz TN panels to hardcore gamers seeking the highest refresh rates.

The new Alienware m15 laptops will hit the market on January 29, 2019. Prices will start at $1,580. The entry level config is said to use the “latest NVIDIA graphics”, presumably the GeForce RTX 2060 since the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti belongs to the previous generation.

The price of Alienware M15 ranges from $1379 to $2399 in the US market.

Alienware m17 basically takes over the specifications of its younger brother, but with a larger 17.3 “display. In this case there seems to be no option for the 4K HDR400 display, while the graphic options come up with the powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q.

The substantial differences between the two notebooks are in the size and weight; Alienware m17 weighs about 500 grams more and has a thickness of 23 mm against the 21mm of the m15. 

The price of Alienware M17 ranges from $1649 to $3799 in the US market.
