Himalayan Bank announces its E-Commerce Payment Gateway

Himalayan Bank Limited has announced the release of its E-Commerce Payment Gateway. The bank said that businessmen and customers, both domestic and international, will now be able to buy and sell products and services online using their debit/credit cards.

The bank said it has been providing this service to traders in Nepal since January 2015 catering to international card holders.

“The Government of Nepal used Himalayan Bank E-Commerce gateway in 2015 to receive donation from abroad forwarded to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Almost USD 93,500 was collected through HBL E-Commerce,” reads a statement issued by the bank.

The bank said its E-commerce Payment Gateway has been enhanced to include domestic cardholders in partnership with 2C2P Thailand, one of the most renowned E-Commerce payment service providers in Asia Pacific.

“The introduction of E-commerce payment gateway by the bank, for the first time in the history of Nepal, has truly revolutionized the way of doing business. E-commerce (Electronic Commerce) enables the buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers through an electronic medium. The E-commerce Payment Gateway accepts all Visa and MasterCard branded cards. American Express, JCB, and UPI cards will soon be integrated,” the statement said.

According to the bank, the E-commerce service is available for all businesses such as airlines, hotels, travel and tours, online shopping sites, movie theaters etc. At present Buddha air, Yeti Airlines, Simrik, Goma and Shree airlines, Muncha, Chairs Ent, Oliz Store, Smart Doko, Himalayan Social Journey Treck and Nepal Social Treks are using HBL’s E-commerce payment gateway.
