On Thursday, Huawei released their foldable Mate X3 smartphone in China. The new phone is the successor to 2021’s Huawei Mate X2 and is available in five different hues.

The Huawei Mate X3 boasts a water-resistant IPX8 construction and is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, as has been speculated about in numerous leaks and rumors. The phone has a 4,800mAh battery to power it.

There is a 7.85-inch screen on the inside in addition to the smaller 6.4-inch screen on the back. Kunlun glass is installed for safety on the screen. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, and Vivo X-Fold are just a few of the rivals that the Huawei Mate X3 will face.

Specifications for the Huawei Mate X3

Huawei’s Mate X3, which supports two Nano SIM cards, is powered by version 3.1 of the company’s own Harmony OS. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, 8:7.1 aspect ratio, 426ppi pixel density, with 1440Hz PWM dimming on a 6.4-inch OLED (1,080×2,504 pixel) display. A 7.85-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,224 by 2,496 pixels, 426ppi of pixel density, 1440Hz of PWM dimming, 120Hz of refresh rate, and an 8:7.1 aspect ratio can be found within. The device’s processing power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 octa-core processor, and its memory capacity is 12GB.

The Huawei Mate X3’s triple rear camera consists of a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with an f/3.4 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, and an ultra-wide-angle 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 lens. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel one with an f/2.4 aperture, making it ideal for taking selfies and video chatting.

The Huawei Mate X3 has a variety of wireless connections and charging choices, including Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. A variety of sensors, such as a barometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, color temperature sensor, and proximity sensor, are installed. A fingerprint reader is located on the device’s side for added security.

The phone features a 4,800Ah battery and can be charged at 66W through cable charging or 50W wirelessly, thanks to Huawei’s inclusion of both technologies.

The Huawei Mate X3 shares the IPX8 rating for water resistance with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold.

When folded, it’s a compact 156.9 x 72.4 x 11.08 mm, and when opened, it expands to a whopping 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3 mm. Around 241 grams is how much it weighs.

Huawei Mate X3 Price and Availability

The entry-level Huawei Mate X3 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs CNY 12,999.

The 512GB model is priced at CNY 13,999, while the 1TB model is CNY 15,999.

Many other colors, including white, black, purple, qingshandai (literally “dawn gold”), and (feather sand white) are offered.

Price and availability information for the Huawei Mate X3 in markets other than China have not yet been announced.

When it was first released in China in February 2021, the Huawei Mate X2 cost CNY 17,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model and CNY 18,999 for the 8GB + 512GB model. Huawei’s smartphone has not yet been made available in several international markets including Nepal and India.
