The cancellation of the Mobile World Congress has not prevented Chinese Huawei from unveiling its new foldable smartphone, the Mate Xs, a slightly improved version of the Mate X.

One year after the launch of the Mate X, Huawei returns with an improved version of its first folding, or rather folding, smartphone: the Mate Xs.

A revised and refined version that comes at a high price
The Mate Xs is none other than an updated Mate X, of which it retains most of the characteristics. Namely, a main display of 6.6 inches which, once the mobile unfolded offers an area of ​​8 inches. On the back, we have an advantage of a 6.3 inch secondary display. The main display carries a resolution of 2200×2480 pixels while the secondary has a resolution of 1148×2480 pixels. The Huawei Mate Xs also has a 6.38-inch touchscreen as its third display, with a resolution of 892×2480 pixels.

The Mate Xs, which runs under the new high-end processor Kirin 990 (5G) of Huawei integrates a 4500 mAh battery and an internal storage of 512 GB with 8 Gb of Ram. The internal storage can be further expanded by 256 GB.

Huawei Mate Xs is powered by a 2.86GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 990 processor that features 2 cores clocked at 2.86GHz, 2 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.95GHz.

On the camera department, there is a main sensor branded by Leica of 40 megapixels, a telephoto of 8 Mp and an ultra wide-angle of 16 Mp and a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor for depth of field. There is no camera at the front and the rear camera will take care of selfies too.

The Huawei Mate Xs runs EMUI 10.0.1 based on Android 10. Connectivity options on the Huawei Mate Xs include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, NFC, and USB Type-C. Sensors on the phone include compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Mate Xs measures 161.30 x 78.50 x 11.00mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 300 grams. It was launched in Interstellar Blue colour.

Price and availability
The Huawei Mate Xs will be marketed in March, at a recommended retail price of $2,730.
