Garmin launches Forerunner 745, the company’s lightest smartwatch for athletes
Garmin’s latest novelty is the Forerunner 745 smartwatch, which is a mid-range offering compared to the Forerunner 945. The smartwatch offers all the tracking features you need as well as features that help during your training session.
The Garmin Forerunner series is a brand of racing watches with GPS (Global Positioning System) included and, thanks to this, offers several functions.
In addition to the fitness tracking sensors and other advanced features found in the most premium Garmin sports watches, the Forerunner 745 also features several basic smartwatch features such as notification management, local music storage, and playback.
Near-Field Communication (NFC) payment support is also supported with Garmin Pay technology. In terms of construction, the Forerunner 745 becomes Garmin’s smallest and lightest racing and triathlon smartwatch.
It comes with a 1.2-inch always-on MIP (pixel memory) transflective display with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. The watch has a dimension of 43.8 x 43.8 x 13.3 mm and weighs 47 grams.
In addition, it comes pre-configured with activity profiles for swimming, cycling and running. The activity tracker can also track more than 100 other activities. There are even advanced statistics such as swimming and stroke pace, as well as balance in cycling and shifting from the centre of the platform.
The watch also includes a blood oxygen sensor for MAX VO2 data and a wrist oximeter for sleep tracking. The waterproof construction (and that supports up to 5ATM) ensures that it can be used in humid conditions.
Garmin Forerunner 745 only supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity because there is no mobile phone support. The smartwatch features a decent battery that can last up to a week if used moderately. Even the use of GPS can reach 16 hours, while the use of GPS and music playback reduce battery life to 6 hours between charges.
